Back at School

  • Mood: Neutral
  • Listening to: The computer's humming.
  • Reading: By the Sword
  • Watching: The clouds go by.
Been a while since I've done much on here besides look at other people's work and read their journals.

School's back in session, I should be able to survive this semester intact, and what do you know - I'm arting again. (I can hear you going "duh" out there.)

I've got lots of pictures from Vienna (from back in May/June!) but I have yet to go through and pick out properly artistic ones. I promise I'll do that eventually.

The prints I put up today are all outside of classwork, thus why there's not as much information as I normally provide. I think the black figure and white moon will continue to show up for a while as I experiment further. Sorrow, for example, was me trying to convey a particular mood through the print, not just making it in a progression like my earlier moon prints.

I'm starting to wonder if I should order more linoleum. I do still have three 6" square blocks left and no, I'm not intending to make Sorrow into a series with them.

I also wonder if it's strange that, though I am a graphic designer, all the art I do on my own is off the computer. I love working on the computer and the polished look my finished pieces have, but when I want to just make something, it's always a physical thing, not moving a mouse around but holding a pencil over paper and such.

Then again, I've been told that as a designer, it's a great thing to have other media in your portfolio, so I'm almost certain Sorrow will be in there next semester.

That's probably enough rambling for now.

I know what you mean. For me it was like I did enjoy doing graphic design stuff though most stuff ended up being more abstract. I think with me that part became a learning process as I got further along. But I do sometimes like painting or drawing better. It is good to have more than one set of things it shows I believe good character and makes you well rounded. Both sides of your work is still good no matter what. Those new ones are so good =).

I wish I had your talent such as in the moon and other things of that media. They are real good same as the graphic stuff too =). Good luck in this new semester of school and all too.
